Week #4, Brought to You By the Letter "P"

We had the good fortune to have Ken Barnard, the 2nd funniest person in Chicago, open up for us this week. He rocked out with his stand-up comedy out and we followed him with a brand new set list of 12 more songs. Tonight’s set list included…

Half Way There

Show #3 at the viaduct opened with the dulcet tones of Stealth Like a Canoe, a romantically entwined duo who trade off on guitar, accordion, ukulele, keys and vocals. They certainly rocked the boat (or canoe in their case). We’re going to be best facebook friends FOREVER…or until facebook gets replaced by another social networking site. Then we might actually have to have face time. I know. Hanging out with people is so 1998, but we in Reset List break social norms like pretzel sticks.

Blue Reset Glee List Club…or Night #2 at the Viaduct

For show #2 we teamed up with the Blue Ribbon Glee Club, Chicago’s one and only punk/alternative rock glee club. A group of 25 people singing a Black Sabbath cover accompanied by nothing by cymbals is nothing short of gleeful. They kicked off the night and got the audiences ears properly lubricated so we could make sweet musical love with their cochleas.

OPENING NIGHT!!! Or Tap…Tap…BOOM.

Night #1 at the Viaduct went rocktastically well.  We are insanely grateful for everyone who made it out to support us and for our awesome opening group, Chicago Tap Theatre.  They kicked off the show (they also tapped, shuffled, and ball-changed it) with an great set of choreographed and improvised numbers.  They even had one of us join them in their final number.  Take a peek.

7/9/09 The Blue Ribbon Glee Club – Monica Kendrick of the Chicago Reader describes the Blue Ribbon Glee Club as “a largely a cappella ensemble, its membership drawn mostly from local indie bands, and its repertoire consists of high-school glee-club nonstandards like the Clash’s “Spanish Bombs,” the Dead Kennedys’ “California Uber Alles,” and Sleater-Kinney’s “Words and Guitar,” accompanied by no more than drums, tambourines, or maybe a bass guitar—usually there’s a healthy contingent singing the main riff instead of the words. 7/16/09 Stealth Like a Canoe – Nicolette and Adam met six years ago and formed Stealth Like A Canoe in the spring of 2008. Knowing each other so well influences their music and creates a playful and intimate rapport on stage, where they share vocals, and switch off on guitar, accordion and keyboard. Their style is an amalgamation of indie, acoustic and blues and their songs range from upbeat dorkiness to melancholic and nostalgic ballads of love lost. http://www.stealthlikeacanoe.com/

7/30/09 The Tacky Annies – The Tacky Annies is a vintage dance troupe that makes their home right here in Chicago. They specialize in vernacular jazz dances from the early part of the 20th century including Charleston, Blues, and other specialty dances. Founded officially in August of 2008 by Jenna Stworzyjanek, the Tacky Annies brought together the best and most talented female Lindyhoppers from the Chicago-land area. The collection of girls had a wide range dance of talents and interests including, swing, blues, Charleston, hip hop, bellydancing, ballet, tap and jazz. This collection of women has led to inventive movement and a wide range of vintage dance knowledge.
